Course Description

Gender and Society is an online capstone and diversity course. These courses are intensive experiences in critical analysis designed to broaden students' perspectives beyond their own culture and discipline and provide an opportunity for integration of previous courses in the major and in the core curriculum. Offered to juniors and seniors only, they require students to examine complex substantive and ethical issues.
This course explores often controversial issues related to race, class, gender and sexuality and invites students to explore some of their very deepest assumptions.

...From the Author

"I participated as a reviewer last year for the Blackboard Exemplary Course Program. This participation was invaluable in thinking about creating the best course I could create. Other faculty around the world have such innovative and exciting ideas, one cannot help but be inspired when exploring their courses. As a lecturer at the University of Nevada, Reno, teaching is my primary role. Participating in the Exemplary Course Program has allowed me to take stock of my class and teaching in a very deep way. Working closely with our instructional design team I have had the opportunity to incorporate best practices both in technology and pedagogy in order to engage students to the fullest."
