Course Description

Web Design and Publishing is a three credit hour course in Internet and World Wide Web (WWW) Publishing. As we enter the 21st century, web development skills are in more demand than ever. This is not only true in a converged media environment, but in many other professional settings as well. This course was designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to be a successful web developer. A hands-on learning environment was created within the online course. Students learned to use web authoring and graphic design software to create and publish content and graphics on the World Wide Web, and gain a basic understanding of the design principles necessary to develop effective, professional web content. Emphasis was placed on converged media and the relationship between printed and digital content. Students also examined blogging, podcasting, accessibility issues on the web, search engines, and web analytics.

...From the Author

"I believe in the strength of networking and collaborating with others outside of my department. My participation in the Greenhouse ECP has provided me with the opportunity to share my approach to online instruction with many other individuals and institutions. Similarly, the Greenhouse ECP has allowed me to learn from others and reflect on the ways that our university might use the concepts and ideas from other courses and projects to help our students succeed."
